Strengthen Our Sisterhood

I am delighted that you chose to visit the official website of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter! It is an honor and a privilege to be 49th President to lead an amazing group of women who have held a longstanding commitment of service to the Durham community, where I was born and raised.

Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter was the first Greek-letter Sorority in the city of Durham and the third Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated ® to be established in the State of North Carolina. What started on April 14, 1928 by eight members has grown to more than 400 members today who represent a wide range of personal and professional backgrounds.

Aligning with the International Administration’s 2022-2026 theme Soaring to Greater Heights of Service and Sisterhood, Alpha Zeta Omega Chapter collaborates with numerous organizations to Empower Our Families, Build Our Economic Wealth, Enhance Our Environment, Advocate for Social Justice and Uplift Our Local Community.

We are also advisors and mentors to two undergraduate chapters in Durham, Alpha Chi, located on the campus of North Carolina Central University, and Iota Mu, located on the campus of Duke University. Working with them provides an intergenerational impact that greatly benefits the communities that we serve.

As you navigate through the website, you may catch a glimpse of familiar faces in action while they strive to be of “Service to All Mankind.” To support our great work, please consider making a donation and follow us on social media to learn about public events where you may participate.

Thank you for visiting!
